RHYTHM OF KATA TJUTA – Central Australia
An energetic watercolour and ink composition inspired by the iconic domes and colours of Kata Tjuta in Central Australia. Loose calligraphic lines and bold brushwork create a contemporary interpretation of the Australian outback landscape.

Calligraphic, rhythmic, noticeable brushmarks, applied to the paper loosely, with confidence.
These are what add life and vitality to a painting. It's the speed of which the brush is drawn across the paper, or other support, which gives the painting its vitality.
When painting with watercolours the pure, clean, under-manipulated colour mixtures give the painting its special "glow".
Rhythmic expression of a subject is very important to me ... more than any other part of a painting, but the importance of design and composition cannot go unnoticed.
My hope is that viewers will look for, and appreciate, this different approach to exciting watercolour painting.
