Ash Mcintyre
Academic by day, artist by night, Ash is a self-taught illustrator based in Newcastle, Australia.
Taking inspiration from different plant species and time spent outdoors, Ash uses primarily black and white illustration and 3-dimensional collage to create fantasy forest-scapes.
Ash’s work meditates on the interplay between natural and human worlds. She seeks to reawaken a sense of wonder at organic, natural landscapes, deepening the spiritual connection between the viewer and the physical world. In both her artistic practice and her academic life, Ash is passionate about the power of story, and how individuals experience the world around them. She hopes that her work inspires viewers to experience the natural world differently, take in details, and bear witness to the complex relationships between living things.
